Waterjet Cutting Bulletproof Glass
Bulletproof glass (ballistic glass, transparent armor, and bullet-resistant glass) is a strong and optically transparent material that is particularly resistant to penetration by projectiles. Like any material, it is not completely impenetrable. It is usually made from a combination of two or more types of glass, one hard and one soft. The softer layer makes the glass more elastic, so it can flex instead of shatter. Bulletproof glass varies in thickness from 3⁄4 to 3 1⁄2 inches (19 to 89 mm).
Cutting bulletproof glass using a waterjet is a simple task for VICHOR Waterjet cutting machine. Ballistic glass can withstand 50 caliber bullets, however, it is cut quickly and efficiently by VICHOR Waterjet. In the glass industry, VICHOR Waterjets are used to cold cut everything from 1mm thick chemically toughened glass for cell phones and appliances to six-layered bulletproof glass.
Located in Ras El Khaimah, with over 20 years of experience in the field of laminated glass production, ARMORED PROTECTION GLASS FACTORY turned to VICHOR Waterjet when the company needed to reduce costs, but keep up the same amount of production with high-quality results. APG relied on VICHOR’s latest MASS-FLOW Pump WCM-P60MAX to accompany the waterjets to not only keep costs down but also reduce the downtime due to the ease of maintenance.
